Listening to the same professor in a lecture hall or re-reading a textbook is only going to take you so far. Sometimes you just need to get information in a different way. If you’re an auditory learner (or you just need some entertainment on your drive to school), you should check out the respiratory specific podcasts below for Respiratory Therapy students.
Respiratory Therapy Study Hall
If you’re looking for review content, look no further! This podcast is organized into episodes that are usually 20 minutes or less and cover a specific topic like “High vs Low Flow Oxygen” or “Mechanical Vent - Compliance and Resistance”. If you need to brush up on a topic or a missed day of lectures, this is the source that will help you fill the gap.
Respiratory HQ’s Journey to Success
This podcast by Tonya Piehl is all about respiratory therapy and produced specifically for students. As she says in the intro, not everything you need for RT can be found in your textbooks! Topics range from questions you should ask on respiratory care interviews after graduating to managing mental health issues and burnout during school. If you’re looking for a mix of motivation and self-help, this podcast has you covered!
Respiratory Cram
Respiratory Cram and Respiratory Therapy Study Hall are similar in content – they both offer lecture style episodes that are great for first-pass learning or review. However, Respiratory Cram only has eight episodes on Spotify so it’s a good option if you need to take a break from textbook review or flashcards and do a binge-listening review before finals.
AARC Perspectives
- Listening to this podcast is the perfect transition into the world of Respiratory Therapy while still in school. The American Association for Respiratory Care uses this platform as a way to share new respiratory research and discuss changing regulations. While school gives you the details of respiratory care, listening to professionals discuss the field can help you feel more condifent discussing care with other medical professionals and growing into your own role as a fully functional respiratory care provider.
No matter which podcast you choose, we hope it helps as you continue through respiratory school and into your career.
