Giving injections is typically outside the scope of practice for healthcare providers who do not have a nursing license or higher. However, some states have made exceptions for Medications Aides, Home Health Aides, CNAs and more to assist or perform insulin administration. So how do you do this?
If you’re a healthcare provider who needs to learn how to handle insulin, you should first check your facility and school guidelines. However, once you’ve done that, we have the resources you need to review. Feel free to use these to study for exams or review before helping a patient.

Hope this helps! If you’re an instructor, feel free to use these with your students, just make sure to credit ChartFlow. If you happen to teach a Medication Aide, Medication Technician program in Virginia, or any other state that allows insulin administration, this is a great addition to our Med Aide Course-in-a-Box, which can be found here.
