Daniel Shporin
About a month since our last release, we've packed a number of new features and improvements into this update. We've also been researching & planning for our upcoming projects, including customization, using Student ID cards for sign-in, and incorporating graphs to visualize trends. More details below 👇
New Features and Improvements
'Other' Option for Dropdowns
We've improved our dropdown menus with a new 'Other' option. When selected, this option opens a free text box within the same section, allowing students to input custom responses. This eliminates the need to use the comments section at the bottom of the flowsheet, streamlining data entry and providing more flexibility in student responses. We've already updated the Assessment flowsheet and will include this 'Other' option throughout our EHR over the next week.
Patient Template Before Start Improvement
We've stabilized the "before start" field in template patients. Now, your entered time (e.g., 180 minutes before start) stays fixed until you save the page, unlike before where the system would convert the time to a different time measurement. This allows for more precise patient scenario creation without unexpected data changes during setup.
Upgraded Text Boxes
We've refined our text boxes with a sleeker look and added rich text formatting options. This update now allows Instructors to add hyperlinks and stylize Activity Instructions, notes within the patient's chart, Order Instructions, and more.
New Onboarding Resources
We have two new webpages to help improve onboarding for our instructors—ChartFlow’s Best Patients and also a separate page for our Medication Aide Lesson Plans. Send us an email to hello@chartflow.io for access.
Easy Data Clearing
We've added a convenient 'x' button to single-select dropdowns, Course End Dates, and Activity Due Dates. Now you can easily clear your selection if you make a mistake, giving you more control and flexibility in data entry.
Persistent Save Button on Forms
The Save button now remains visible on Patient Registration, Demographics, and other forms after Saving, making it easier to edit or add additional information.
New EHR Content
Microbiology Cultures
Special thanks to the Medical Laboratory Science Program at Franciscan Missionaries of our Lady University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for helping us create dedicated sections for Blood, Wound, Sputum, Throat, Cerebral Spinal Fluid, Urogenital, and Urine Cultures. You'll find all of these sections on the left, under Results  Microbiology Cultures. Order Links exist as well for each individual Culture. Â
New Screenings
We've added SBIRT and Vision Screenings to our Screenings & Scales section. Have a new screening you'd like to see added? Just let us know with a link to the form and we'll add it to the queue.
New Action Statuses for Medications
Scheduled, Started, Acknowledged, and Expired Actions have been added for Medications.
What’s Next?
Customization?
We've started development on a groundbreaking way to make ChartFlow customizable for individual programs. This powerful new feature will allow organizations to have their own Visit Types, Flowsheets, Fields, and Medication Formulary tailored to their specific needs. Not satisfied with our standard Assessment or Vital Signs? We'll build them exactly how you want! This premium new feature, once launched, will be our first to carry an additional charge, reflecting the time required to create the personalized content for your program. We're gathering feedback over the next few months as we prepare for launch and we'd love to hear from you. Is this something your program would find valuable? How would custom clinical forms, care plans, assessments, and other sections enhance your teaching? Your input is critical in shaping this feature and the future of ChartFlow. Send us an email to hello@chartflow.io and let us know your thoughts!
Graphs
Coming soon — dynamic visualization tools for Vital Signs, Lab Results, Growth Charts, and more! Our new graphing package will transform existing patient data into clear, insightful trends, empowering students to better understand and track patient progress. This addition will enhance clinical decision-making skills and make data interpretation more intuitive and engaging.
Badge Sign In
At IMSH in January, we'll unveil our innovative new sign-in method for Simulation. No more dealing with passwords or one-time codes; students will simply swipe their ID Card or scan a barcode for quick & efficient account access. This user-friendly approach will save time and reduce login frustrations, allowing everyone to focus on what really matters — the learning experience.
